Bennie Bender of Springs, PA, will demonstrate and explain the art of horseshoeing and answer questions about Amish lifestyle, customs and traditions. *Friday only
Stream Restoration Exhibit-Located in front of Alpine Lodge, Davis
Canaan Valley Institute will have employees on hand to explain stream restoration techniques and offer a hands-on activity. *Friday only

Broken “H” Traveling Train Exhibit- Located in front of Alpine Lodge, Davis
Impressive traveling train exhibit has three tracks of G-scale trains that are in motion all at the same time. Knowledgeable “conductor” Dean Hardman will introduce festival visitors to a wealth of locomotive history when visiting the exhibit. Exhibit located in the grassy area adjacent to Alpine Lodge/Sawmill Restaurant (in the event of inclement weather, this exhibit may be moved to the Davis Community Center).
Totem Motive Wood Carving Exhibit – Located in front of Alpine Lodge, Davis
Local artist “Sacco” Carter will demonstrate the fine art of wood carving with live demonstrations. Exhibit located in the grassy area adjacent to Alpine Lodge/Sawmill Restaurant.
Fred “Powerhouse” Powers – Located in front of Alpine Lodge, Davis
Coal Miner, Storyteller, Author, Teacher, Appalachian- Living History Presentation of the Appalachian Coal Miner. Fred Powers is a walking repository of West Virginia History. A former school teacher as well as a miner, he’s a great storyteller and his oral presentation of his life, forbearers and region are only a small reflection of the many untold stories of the coal miner. www.powerhousepowers.com

Scenic Chairlift Rides – Canaan Valley Resort, Canaan Valley
View the valley’s brilliant autumn colors from the top of Weiss Knob at 4280’. Enjoy a leisurely scenic chairlift ride to the top of the ski area mountain, where you can view the entire valley and nature’s spectacular artwork. Terrific photography opportunities. Choose to ride the lift back to the base of the mountain, or hike down via Bald Knob Trail (moderately strenuous, not suggested for small children. Bring snacks and water if hiking). The 10-mile guided ride descends from Thomas to Mill Race Park in Parsons, where riders are treated to a picnic hosted and sponsored by the City of Parsons.
